View PDFSHANGHAI, July 22. Rumours of impending changes in the Executive Yuan (Chinese Cabinet) were current in political and commercial circles here as Nationalist China prepared for the visit of Gen Wedmeyer, President Truman’s “fact-finder,” and his mission.
It was unofficially reported that to enable the Government to carry out its general mobilization order for “all-out” war against the Chinese Communists, several changes will shortly be made in the Yuan, including the appointment of Dr Wellington Koo, Chinese Ambassador in Washington, as Foreign Minister in place of Dr Wang Shih-Chien, who will return to his former post of Minister of Education.
A Chinese newspaper said that Chien Li-fu, recognized leader of the Kuomintang “Rightist” elements, would also probably enter the Cabinet as Minister of Social Affairs, Reuter.
