People trapped in the burning North Tower of the World Trade Center scramble to the windows in terror to escape the fire.  

Shortly after this photograph was taken, the tower collapsed.  

Two hijacked planes slammed into the twin 110-storey towers on Tuesday, demolishing a symbol of America’s financial might in the process.
